Red Bird Campaign donates instruments to Messmer Prep
Posted 06/04/2010 02:32PM

The Red Bird Campaign is a non-profit organization with a goal to reach the future musicians of Milwaukee and give them every opportunity to experience and create music by raising money to purchase instruments for Milwaukee schools. The Red Bird raises money to purchase instruments for schools so students who may not be able to afford to rent or buy their own instrument can still participate in band.

Messmer’s Grade School band program was identified as the first school to benefit. The first event to raise money for the Red Bird Campaign was a successful music show where five different local bands played a venue in Bay View. At this show, Red Bird raised enough money to fulfill part of Messmer’s wish list, and with upcoming events they plan to make all of Messmer's musical dreams come true.

On Thursday, June 3rd the instruments purchased by Red Bird through Cascio were delivered to Messmer Prep. A group of 8 kids had a unique experience to play all the new instruments and hear the sounds of a tuba, the flute and a baritone saxophone. The smiles on their faces are unmistakable. The gift of instruments to our band program will have a lasting impact for years to come.

Messmer Catholic Schools are truly thankful to the Red Bird Organization and all of the Red Bird supporters for their gifts.
